Just got back to the computer to find a note from U.S. District Judge Barbara Lynn's courtroom deputy, who says that since last we were in the Earle Cabell Federal Building and Courthouse
, the judge met with prosecutors and defense attorneys -- separately -- to see about picking up the pace of the already drawn-out federal City Hall corruption trial. Maybe, maybe not: According to the e-mail sent to local media, both sides combined have indeed whittled down their respective lists of witnesses -- and it "has been lowered to a ballpark of 50 witnesses," which is more than double the number of folks who've taken the stand since this sucker started back in late June
. And that doesn't include Bill Fisher, who's back on the stand when court resumes Monday. Get your rest this weekend, Jim.
