The First Time Paul McCartney Played Dallas

• Hey Robert, Trini Lopez's brother has a great story about the BEatles coming to Dallas on this trip. Apparently he had a friend who worked for one of the local papers and he let him come along. He was wearing a suit Trini gave him that Trini wore while on tour in England with Beatles. During the press conference the Beatles recognized the suit and found out he was Trini's brother. They invited him to diner...... lol Cool story.

• Wow - it's plain to see that the Dallas media types asked dumbass questions back then as well...

• Yes every time we passed that place Daddy mentioned Raquel or Doris. He sort of hinted that Raquel put in a lot of 'overtime'.

• Bet the waitressing 'twenty-something' Raquel was known for her outstanding tips.

• Mmmmmmm. Twenty-something Raquel Welch.

• Maybe ... And, that's where Raquel Welch worked as a waitress.

• Saw them then when we all went to the Cabana Hotel on Stemmons...where they were staying.... and the crowd pushed against the glass until it broke. No one was hurt but the Beatles were wisked away pronto as my date screamed 'Paul! Paul!' PS: The (then) 'Cabana Hotel' (which was owned by Doris Day) is still standing opposite the American Airlines Center. But it's now a jair spillover facility. (Wilonsky has photos I feel sure.)

• Isn't that 64' show the one Mike Rhyner skipped to go to a Kimball Knights football game? I think his sister had tickets. I guess he had the same prediction he had for Tiger Woods. They weren't going to be that good.
