Paul Quinn College Supporters Take Fight to Keep the Doors Open to the Internets

When last we heard word from the campus of Paul Quinn College, local and state legislators had gathered to voice their unconditional support for the college stripped of its accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in late June. While the school works through the process of appealing the revocation, with the assistance of attorney Bill Brewer of Bickel & Brewer, a Friend of Unfair Park directs our attention to a Web site dedicated to saving the 137-year-old institution: Support Paul Quinn College, the main purpose of which is to secure donations necessary to keeping the doors open.

As Kimberly noted on July 13, the Texas Legislative Black Caucus is hoping to raise $1.5 million by the end of August. But so far, it's been slow going: A July 22 tweet from the SPQC account points to $1,400 raised thus far. There's also a Facebook page, where we find word of a Saturday fund-raiser on campus followed by an alumni pep rally.
