In short: The ICR claims that since it doesn't take government money, the government doesn't have the right to tell it what kind of degrees it can hand out. Meanwhile, the THECB members member say District Judge Jane Boyle can't rule on the case yet because, look, they haven't even responded to the original complaint yet, come on. Does that mean I can open a "school" there and hand out Doctor of Divinity Degrees?
Then can I declare my "graduates" to be clergy making them exempt from taxes?

Posted On: Monday, Jul. 13 2009 @ 11:36AMWhat the THECB actually did was refuse to accredit an ICR MEd (science teacher's degree)in "creation science" program. ICR can offer any degree on whatever content it wants, at whatever tuition and length, but it won't be accredited, neither ICR or the MEd, in the state of Texas. Therefore, the person with such a MEd degree would not be able to get a job in a public school in Texas teaching science, or other subject, based on that degree. The SBEC/TEA (St Board of Educator Certification/ Texas Education Agency) would never recognize the degree, or credential such a person as even a provisional teacher in Texas. Any private school or Charter, that had TEA and/or SBOE (St Board of Education) accreditation would never be be able to hire such a person as a teacher either, based on the MEd in creation science from ICR, without loosing their credentialing from TEA/SBOE. Its unlikely that any other states' public education certification agencies would recognize the degree either, since ICR is in Texas, offering the degree in Texas. The THECB refused to accredit the ICR's MEd in science teaching in creation science program.
