It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Assuming You Like the Taste of Mosquito Spray

Up in my swatted-neck of the woods, the city's preparing to kill mosquitoes dead, dead, dead thanks to the first positive West Nile test of the summer. (Yes.) Says this city of Dallas press release, folks who live in an area boundeded by Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Dallas North Tollway, Inwood Road, Forest Lane and Crestline Road really oughta stay inside tomorrow night between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m., as the city trucks out its vat of pesticide to rid that piece of Northwest Dallas of its skeeters. And, as always, this warning really is the best part of any such notice from the city: "Persons out during the scheduled spraying time should be alert for trucks and should not follow them." If I may quote the great Heywood U. Buzzoff from July 2008: "If they did not want us out when they spray, why did they make the spray taste so minty?"
