This just in from FC Dallas: Kenny Cooper is a Hoop no more. The star striker, who came to Dallas in February 2006 from Manchester United and who's on the US national team, is being shipped off to TSV 1860 München -- which sounds like a Bavarian television station, but, no, is in fact a football team.

Funny thing is, around this time last year, word was the 2003 Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas grad was leaving for Norway. It didn't happen then; but he's all but gone now, pending a medical exam. Says GM Michael Hitchcock, Cooper's contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and it made sense to move him now while he could "provid[e] our club with valuable resources for new acquisitions."

Maybe you recall: It was quite the big deal with Cooper returned home -- after all, his father, Kenny Cooper Sr., spent a decade as a Dallas Tornado. Now the Cooper era's done in Dallas. Says Kenny Jr. in his adios: "I would like to thank the Hunt family, my teammates and everyone at FC Dallas for everything over the last four years. To all of the wonderful fans, thank you so much for your support. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to play for my hometown team, in the same city where my father played for 11 years. I am very excited and honored to join 1860. I am hungry and ready to give my all to the club. I hope I will make Lamar and everyone at FC Dallas proud. I wish everyone the very best."
