Great version of one of the best songs ever!
I probably wouldn't know the song quite so well if not for the Gringo's version but let's give credit where credit is do....it was written and originally recorded by Doug Sahm.

The first time I heard that song was the Gringos version as well. Then a friend, Chrissie made me a copy of Doug Sahm's original version and I was shocked. It was a beautiful song a melody!
I love the Gringos version as well but the Sahm version was a completely different animal.
Yes, yes and yes -- and I did indeed mean to give credit where it's due this morning, but I was writing between power flickers and neglected to mention Doug Sahm as a result. All apologies. And, of course, Barry, that's one hell of a nice rendition. I need an MP3 for my iPod pronto, pal.
