Uncle Barky Reports the Times, They May Be A-Changin' for KXAS's Mike Snyder

Just last October, KXAS-Channel 5 was congratulating anchor Mike Snyder for 25 years of service: "Mike has changed very little over the years, and is still dedicated and committed to his journalistic craft." But last night, Ed Bark noted that Snyder may be on his way out of the 10 p.m. anchor's chair-- so much for the mazel tov. According to Uncle Barky, Snyder's got two options on the table: One involves him staying on at 5 and 6 p.m. at drastically reduced pay; one of which involves an outright buyout. It's all based on "reliable sources," but the news comes just as Channel 5 confirms it's cutting staff -- by at least nine, according to Bark, many of whom are photojournalists. Ed has all the details.

First Rebecca Miller! Now Mike Snyder! Unbelievable! What are they thinking! I catch Rebecca for the weather on Channel 33 and will definately quit watching the news if Mike is outsted too. David Frinfrock better watch out! Who is making these decisions??

Funny you mention Alice Carron. She is now on HSN. Mike can go. Rebecca is better off away from channel 5.
I remember the best 5 news team of any of them when Brad Wright and Alice Carron were on togeather. Snyder is a pompus ass who screws up his read all the time and McGerry is what? just adequate I guess. 5 could do better.
I cannot wait for bell bottom snyder to be gone. Ch5 emp know him to be a two faced backstabbing lier, and why would anyone want to look at and listen to Rebecca Miller? I may start watching 5 again.

Pretty much stopped watching after Becky was canned. I like Mike Snyder, but Jane doesn't do much for me. The newest weather girl looks 17, and needs some broadcasting courses, and if she's had them take them again.
Susan Tully is the one needs to go. After the monumental goof of sacking Rebecca, enough peeps stopped watching that now they need to save more money and guess Snyder makes just less than Finfrock. Look out David!
@ CBS: the only comparison of David Finfrock to Ken Hamlin EVER! Awesome. What a visual "look out my bitches in Palo Pinto, that tornado comin' after yo ass" (throat slash gesture).
I think management might consider cutting themselves, they way some of the decisions are being made. I pretty much stopped watching 5 when Rebecca was fired. Now she's on 33, so I watch 11 for news and 33 for weather.....
Get rid of McGarry and Scully. Bring Rebeca Miller back and keep Mike Snyder. Then you might have a news broadcast.
very sad. He is a very good newsman and I actually enjoy his broadcasts (oddly, I am in the 30-35 demo). Jane and Finnfrock are seperate issues (I sure hope they are simply the low cost alternative). Management clearly does not get it. Getting rid of Rebecca Miller and now Mike is like cutting Romo and Jason Whitten and leaving the team with Bobby Carpenter and Ken Hamlin.
I'm tired of hearing how I can follow along with their blogs, opinions, tweets, commercials how much everyone is a second family on the newscast. They sacked Rebecca Miller; stupid decision. I now only watch the news to get the weather so I can find out if my golden retriever needs to be sedated because of thunderstorms. That's all the information I need. Just report the news and stop trying to be my friend. You aren't.
Hell, if I want to watch a fake news cast I turn it to Comedy Central at 10pm. A full hour of it.
I watch the first 7 minutes of WFAA to see if anything really important is happening around here (mostly not because they don't cover that stuff) and then either go to PBS for news or click it off!

Amy, you are so right. Mike was okay until they paired him with Jane. The smuginess of them together is insane. But I haven't watched a local newscast in the past decade except for the time me and my kiddo was interviewed for a segment.
You're right, Toots. I've given up on the local "newscasts" and opted for some nice soothing classical music instead. Helps keep my blood pressure down.
True, Toots. Sorta. Per the spontaneous' 'banter' between Pete and Dale: It's come to remind me of two former athletes at the class reunion thinking, after a few drinks, that they're young again and those hot hotel interns think they're cute.
I hate to break it to you Amy but they are all a joke. Channel 4 being the biggest and Channel 8 being the least because of Pete and Dale.
Channel 5 news is a joke and has been since the day they hired McGarry. Snyder would have been so much more effective without that albatross around his neck.
