Rick Ericson at The LeMaster Group forwards along the latest in a shortline of Official Tom Hicks Media Releases -- though, as you're no doubt aware, this is by far the most interesting one yet. Because as the owner of the Texas Rangers told Randy Galloway yesterday, yup, he's willing to sell his majority stake in Your Texas Rangers should the right buyer come down the pike. (And, for starters, David McDavid tells Richie today that he thinks he might be just the feller -- right, Widetrack?) In this release, Hicks acknowledges that he's hired Joe Ravitch to "identify potential investors" in the club. He also says this is real, real hard for him and his family, and there's no reason to believe otherwise. Tom Hicks on Selling the Texas Rangers
Be careful what you ask for. After years of running in circles and finishing in last place along with poor free agent selection the Rangers under Ryan seem to be on the right path. A new owner might leave things as they are or he could be worse than Hicks. This is hard to write since I've been on Hicks case for years as a poor owner
How old is Mr Hick's abode? With all the new landscaping he's installed his water use should spike for the first 3-5 yrs. Presumably, if he's on top of his yard maintenance schedule he'll be using less and less as his new landscape naturalizes.
His use per acre was in line with the average user. Of course the population density must be far lower on the Hicks estate than the average resident.
Seriously, his usage fell right in line. That surprises me and the city's water awareness campaigns really deserve credit on that end. One would imagine the largest user would be one who exceeds the average use per acre.
Aww, it's hard for him. Maybe using prodigious amounts of water will help ease the sting. Poor baby.
Does anyone else notice a resemblance to Randy Quaid in Vegas Vacation?

We can exclude one potential owner:

Will someone please by this damn team who CARES whether or not it wins...
Id like to see an owner who is also a old school baseball fan, someone who gets the game and the promotion of the product, like a mark cuban but with more class where it counts. All we've seen of hicks at the game is stuffing his fatass pigman snout full of machine-separated pig and beef entrails in a natural casing wrapped in fried cornmeal.
I actually hate DmD more than Hicks. After the crap his dealership attempted to pull when we were buying my wife's car and his non-response to our letter directly to him, he is on my Sh*t list. We ended up buying from Vandergriff instead.
Though Vandergriff is way up there in age, he did wonders for Arlington and ran an upfront non-scummy dealership. He'd be a great Rangers owner.
