Downtown should be quite colorful today. In addition to the anime event, Dallas Powerhouse of Dance is having its recital at the Majestic all day long.

When we went downtown for the dress rehearsal yesterday, we at first thought Booker T must be having some event, but then we asked and learned of the anime gig.

So if you find yourself on the corner with big people in costumes and little people in costumes and everyone in lots of makeup, enjoy the moment!

I work downtown and always look forward to this event every year ("cyber-Jesus" was my favorite costume last year). What a nice break from the 9-5 crap you see every day in the CBD! My only question is, how old are these people and do they really have an economic impact on the city?

My guess would be most folks were teenagers to mid twenties. I was told there were about 13,000 pre-regestered, I believe at $25 a pop. Fast food chains rented rooms at the Sheraton to sell food directly, they had lines out the doors at 8pm.. I saw dozens and dozens of vendors and demonstrations. It appeared millions of boxes of Pocko (Japanese candy) were going out the door at $6 a box.
Most the ballrooms were full of anime characters.
There were Two bands in from Tokyo.
Of course there was hotel room, and transportation monies being made. I'm gonna guess it helped the economic impact quite a bit.

Every year I seem to be driving through downtown when this is going on, and thinking "What the hell!?!?!?" VERY entertaining, seeing what seem like very lost people wandering around the barren parts of downtown dressed up. As Costumes said, the dance recital was going on also, and I saw a little ballet girl and her family looking with amazement at three costumed characters happily walking down the sidewalk.

hahaha I saw one of these retards walking past Lemmon and with the bad wig, i thought it was a gramma in a long jacket.
