If Nothing Else, Shouting About the City Budget Might Make You Feel a Little Better

• COB: Good point about moving trash pickup to next day after national holiday. Everything eventually catches up. Of course, then there are those that will send the city to hell for not picking up their precious trash on the regularly scheduled day. Life is fun.

• Arranging the trash/recycle pickup so that the City doesn't pay the workers doubletime for working on National Holidays that fall on Mondays. Like this past Monday.

• How about the $50,000,000.00 "rainy day fund" that the revenue bond financing of the proposed convention center hotel will require? If that fund must be maintained at the $50,000,000.00 level -- in other words, if you take one dollar out of it, that dollar has to be put back in -- then maintaining that fund may become a hole in the city's general fund's boat, so to speak ... bail it out, but more water comes in. Oh, but mayor Leppy says we're going to issue revenue bonds to create that $50,000,000.00 "rainy day fund." Yes, and then what? When you take the first dollar out, and you have to replenish it, where does that replenishment come from? You don't keep issuing revenue bonds in perpetuity to maintain the $50,000,000.00 level ... it'll perhaps come from the general funds of the city? I'm thinking maybe, yes. So, it really don't matter much, Miz Suhm, what you cut because once that li'l boat starts leakin', ain't no plug you can put in. Cut away, but the day is coming when we can't pay the debt service on the cch revenue bonds and ... Shazam~! we got water in the boat that won't quit coming in no matter what we bail. DOESN'T ANYBODY GET THIS????!!!!
