Maybe you too have spotted these anti-Proposition 1 signs in recent days -- saw a couple in my Northwest Dallas neighborhood this morning, spied one near Fitzhugh and Capitol Avenues last night, and we found this one earlier today near One Arts Plaza downtown. And, sure, if you know what they mean and who's behind 'em -- Dupree Scovell and his band of "young professionals" who support Mayor Tom Leppert's city-owned convention center hotel -- they make perfect sense. Then again, you could end up having the same reaction as the missus: "What the what?

Regardless of the lame-o website, what the signs are --"Young Professionals"-- is LITTER, plain and simple. It's not "vote for Leppert", it's not even an election sign so it should put this group in the bracket of polluters, trashers and horrendously bad copywriters. I have enjoyed gathering the thousands ("a few"??) of placards to re-purpose as Garage Sale signs, I've never had this many before. Oh, and "I Buy Ugly Houses". Se Vende Casas

I'm sure as hell not buying what Greg is selling. I visited their site today, but I did so just to see for myself what had been labeled as lame. I agree - their site is rather pathetic and I certainly do not agree with their viewpoints. I sincerely hope the this ill-fated hotel dies a swift death thanks to Prop 1.
I think I may be responsible for some of this hits as well... I e-mailed the link to some folks (most of whom are out of state) as an example of an "astro-turf" campaign and told them to check it out.

This proposition has brought out some of the most outstanding propaganda I have ever seen! I like the vote yes ads for safe streets (as though the money not spent on the hotel goes to safety)
Given the Mav's playoff opponents -- and the color scheme -- I assumed the signs were posted by some stray Spuuuur's fans.
Um, Greg, I'm one of the 150 visitors who went to the site. Just because I went doesn't mean I'm buying what you're selling.
Was downtown saturday afternoon (my is downtown dallas hopping on the weekends....) and saw them all over Ross. I just assumed this was a faux grassroots organization more akin to a PAC paid for by a friend of Mayor Tom. Seems like I was right.
The worst sign ever is the one that does not get noticed. You've just written a great piece about it and us and, according to our stats, just sent about 150 more visitors to our Web site today alone. Worst. Try. At. Bad. Press. Ever.
Saw the sign at Malcom X and Live Oak Saturday AM. Being an out of touch Boomer, I thought it saw an add to a new Dallas nightclub. Makes as much sense as Lee Harvey's.

Yeah, as a young person, I have to say that the pander-ey hip talk grosses me out. Also, I'm confused: this guy works for Trammell Crow, right? The Harlan Crow kind of Trammell Crow... right?
Oh guess I spoke too soon, earlier, asking if anyone had seen this yet. These are plastered all over downtown today.
This sign was a bit disconcerting to see near the entrance to Hillcrest Cemetery.
their website has too much going on in too small of a space. i didn't even spend enough time on it to figure out what side they were on when i first saw the signs!

Cracker Daddy thinks the RIPDallas website is well......um........lame. Cracker Daddy thinks it's sad when the establishment tries to convince people how "hip", "cool" or "with it" they are. Please don't let Mayor Tom get out there in some really hip, happening gear. Oh well, on that note, Cracker Daddy is bugging out of work early and celebrating 420 Day.

How can I resist when they're telling me that the hotel is going to be "really cool"? I sure wouldn't want to miss out.
If you don't vote for (FISA, The Patriot Act, The Iraq War, The Convention Center Hotel) -- people die!!!!! Dick Cheney would be so proud, but I'm not so sure the scare tactics work anymore.
