No Need to Secede. Because, See, Texas is Already a Foreign Country.

Time magazine wonders this morning: "What's All That Secession Ruckus in Texas?" Um, Governor Rick Perry, maybe? And, natch, his very vocal support for House Concurrent Resolution No. 50, which, as we pointed out in February, states that the "81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby claim[s] sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States."

Alas, The Huffington Post points out that the Obama administration already considers Texas a foreign country -- so, see, no need for all this secession talk after all. More than likely it was a harmless slip, but until this morning, the U.S. Department of State's Web site listed Hillary Clinton's trip to Dallas last month (she was at the Dallas Women's Museum) as a visit to a foreign country, sandwiching Texas between Switzerland and Turkey. No, really. Here's the proof.
