Till then, though, today we get this ad from the Citizens Against the Taxpayer-Owned Hotel -- the group's fourth, for those keeping score at home. But if it looks familiar, well, it is. Because, see, first there was this CATOH ad that debuted a month ago starring some dude in a blue shirt calling Mayor Tom Leppert "arrogant." Then, last week, came the pro-hotel side's first advertisement, which featured Leppert literally pushing aside the first ad. Which brings us to today's CATOH ad, which uses scenes from Leppert in last week's pro-hotel ad to make its case. The mayor will not be pleased.
I DO NOT want a Taxpayer Convention Hotel Built, and here's why:
1. I do think a Convention Hotel would be useful
2. The "Convention" hotel should be built by private investors....
HOW ? ?
W-A-I-T until the Leg. passes, and THEY WILL PASS.... passes the Gambling Casino Hotel Bill.....
Then.... Outside forces will come up with the money to build a big gambling Hotel and Casino in Downtown, that can also be a "Convention" Hotel.
In this world folks, THERE'S ALWAYS MONEY FOR CASINO HOTEL.... THAT'S THE FACTS OF LIFE !!!!!
Convention center hotel plans on hold

By Mark Belko, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
With the economy in shambles, local officials have shelved plans to seek new proposals from developers interested in building a long-delayed $104 million hotel next to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown.
The city-Allegheny Sports & Exhibition Authority has decided to wait until economic conditions improve before considering a rebid of the project, Executive Director Mary Conturo said.
"We think in this economy it is not likely that we would get a meaningful response," she said.
The SEA had been considering a new request for proposals after negotiations stalled with Forest City Enterprises, the Cleveland developer selected six years ago to build the so-called headquarters hotel with as many as 500 rooms.
Cracker Daddy really dislikes him some Mayor Tom. Cracker Daddy thinks it's time that he and his buddies at the DCC get a thumping at the ballot box. However, Cracker Daddy does wonder if said thumping will actually deter the DCC crowd from getting their precious hotel. Along the same line, Cracker Daddy wonders if levees breaking would actually deter the same crowd from getting their precious toll-road too.
What a great ad! The mayor continues to lie to the taxpayers and, while he might have been able to get away with that kind of behavior as the CEO of Turner Construction, lying to the people who are paying his paycheck is not acceptable.
Mayor Leppert: it's time to start telling us the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth.
At least this commercial makes it clear what voting "Yes" means...
that's as much truth as we will probably see out of either side during this entire campaign
Looks like lying his ass off isn't going to work for the mayor this time.
Love it.
That's f'ing genius... love the "Directions"... nicely done.
