Earlier today, the National Basketball Association lifted $25,000 from Mark Cuban's pocket for comments Twittered after Friday night's game against the Denver Nuggets. Tweeted the Dallas Mavericks' owner, "how do they not call a tech on JR Smith for coming off the bench to taunt our player on the ground?" The player, of course, was Antoine Wright, with whom Smith had an altercation in January resulting in ... wait for it ... a $25,000 fine slapped on Cuban for getting upset with Smith. Ten minutes later on Friday, Cuban followed up: "scary part of that play: Same crew chief from game in Denver where they missed call - last play of the game & 1st JRSmith/Wright issue."

What you see above are Cuban's most recent tweets concerning the fine.

On Blog Maverick, Cuban offers his thoughts on a wholly unrelated subject: the lone sports reporter sent to cover the Dallas Mavericks when they played Golden State last week (that'd be The Dallas Morning News's Eddie Sefko). Writes Cuban concerning the fate of Dallas's Only Daily and the withering newspaper business: "
What would happen if our local papers shut down and went online only? How would we reach the casual fan that wont invest time to go to the online sports section or the Mavs website? Its a possibility I have to figure out how to deal with today."
