"the best movie filmed in Dallas"
Robocop, hands down.

My parents have pictures of me at every State Fair since I was born in (ahem). I was just graduating from the stroller pics when this was filmed but I distinctly remember the Carousel scene being filmed because the kids were from Lakewood Elementary.
The weird thing I remember is that my late Daddy was more thrilled to see Alice Faye in person rather than Ann-Margret. I can't remember the race track, but Ann-Margret's little turn at the Bandshell is still pretty hot:

Yeah, Pat Boone was there as was the weird bespectled roommate of Marlon Brando who later made an impact on Hollywood Squares, Wally Cox.
But you have to admit it was pretty cool for Bobby Darin to be hanging out at Fair Park.
Posted On: Thursday, Mar. 5 2009 @ 11:39AMI was there, gawking with my cousins, their parents and my parents. That's what counted as a major outing in my Oak Cliff childhood. I didn't understand much of what was going on, but not only was Bobby Darin there. His very-pregnant wife, Sandra Dee, was with him. I recognized her from the movies "Gidget" and "A Summer Place." She was dressed in a turquoise-blue silk or satin two-piece maternity ensemble (I remember it was shiny) and she glowered the whole time I watched her. She was either very uncomfortable or very unhappy. Darin, on the other hand, laughed, smiled and signed autographs.
Posted On: Thursday, Mar. 5 2009 @ 12:48PMCool to hear another perspective - the other thing I remember well about those days was the monorail, which was soon dismantled.
So I guess Sandra Dee was not pounding beers.
If you doubters didn't watch my whole youtube clip, go to 2:20 when Ann sheds her clothes.

Hey kinda 'racy' (that's a pun if you've seen the movie) for the day. Where were you in '62?
Posted On: Thursday, Mar. 5 2009 @ 1:20PMC'mon. You people know better. That whole movie was filmed in Italy. They created an elaborate set designed to look just like the Texas State Fair. It's now an Italian seeing-eye dog training camp. Those dogs can light your cigarette for you.
Posted On: Thursday, Mar. 5 2009 @ 3:14PMI remember my parents taking me to Fair Park AT NIGHT to see the filming. My dad wouldn't even take us to the South Loop Drive-In unless my mom threw an S...Fit. So it was a big deal.
But yeah, maybe it was Italy.
But there is a guy on the IMDb message board who swears it was all filmed in Hollywood.
