Dallas school board trustee Ron Price made it official at 3:44 p.m. on January 30, when he turned into the City Secretary's Office paperwork announcing that he's running for Carolyn Davis's District 7 seat on the Dallas City Council. (Ex-City Manager Richard Knight Jr., now in the waste disposal business, is serving as Price's treasurer.) Which, no doubt, is why he's now making a serious push to show progress in his District 9 -- and to show off Ron Price.

Two weeks before filing, Price launched a YouTube channel called EveryChildCounts2009, which features news clips featuring Price that date back to 1994, three years before he became a trustee. (He was then the founder of "Pearl Angels," which was ... aw, look -- Chip Moody.) And today comes this Price-generated media release, distributed by a New York-based marketing company, in which he points to schools such as Julia C. Frazier Elementary School and Lincoln High School as "social and academic blueprint[s]" for success. Says Price in the release, "Poor kids can achieve. They've been doing it for years in South Dallas and it's time we shine a spotlight on what's working."
