While I've known many a good person who has or is currently serving in this country's military there are plenty of bad eggs. Also, since the standards have been lowered the past few years and a slow economy usually means higher enrollment we can expect it to get worse.

One thing that the current military is fighting is an influx of gang memebers in the military. Unfortunately, what is happening is gang members join trying to get aaway from the gangs and are sucked back in, or young soldiers are recruited after they have joined and been trained.

The 377th Medical Group provides daily operational medical support to the 377th Air Base Wing and over 100 associate organizations. Additionally, the group provides primary health care to patients enrolled in TRICARE Prime and assigned to Kirtland AFB clinic, and temporary duty personnel. The clinic provides primary and specialty care on a space-available basis to other eligible beneficiaries.

I watched a show on television just a few days ago about how the military is struggling with an increasing number of recruits who have criminal records, particularly records relating to gang activity. Because of pressure to meet certain quotas, they've lowered their standards over the past several years and allowed more exemptions for people with questionable backgrounds.

I just deployed with Frankie in Aug of 2008. He is in no way a "gang member". He's the nicest guy you'd ever meet who spends every waking moment playing with his kids. He was home visiting friends and family and got caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. Some chump dropped his name for being there and because he's in the AF they are making a big deal. He'd never hurt anyone.
