would you have been this excited to see another war criminal.
the dallas observer trashes john kerry with their (ie whitley) by supporting the swiftboating.
why is bush in dallas?
because this is the ONLY FUCKING MAJOR CITY that the press would allow him to get away with shit like this and lap it up like little media whore dogs.

Which just goes to show that he is what many of his supporters have; a pleasant man to spend time around (i.e. the presidential condidate you'd most like to cookout with). So give him props for a sense of humor even while acknowledging that he was a lousy preseident. And can we all agree that Elliott's Hardware is an awesome store?
Posted On: Sunday, Feb. 22 2009 @ 9:19AMWhat does everyone want from this man? Really, what do you want? Maybe Anonymous is angry, but I really don't understand the point in holding on to so much what seems to be hate. Anonymous, an appology from Bush will solve nothing. If you think the country is in a s-hole like state, Roll up your sleeves and get to help cleaning it up. Ask yourself what you can do to make it better. Yelling at a tornado for destroying a city won't get it cleaned up. I think the reason our country is in an s-hole is because we are all talk and no action. We are way okay to pay as little for the crap we fill our homes with, and pretend that everything is fine. I am to blame as well. I sit in meetings all day, bitch about stuff I have no control over, and in the end do very little, or nothing about it. We used to be a country of workers. Now we are way to content to let others do it for us. We are all so apathetic when it comes for us to actually turn a screw, or move. We will however, type a few comments and feel as if we have done something productive, such as I have, and such as I feel.

prosecution for war crimes for starters.
Posted On: Sunday, Feb. 22 2009 @ 10:26AMName one other major metropolitan area that this hideous war criminal could move too without being hassled every single day.
Perhaps Houston.
The people that support and promote (see above) him now are those that voted for him and are still trying to wash the blood of the innocent from their hands. Their ego over rides their compassion for the neighbor that lost their house, the friend who lost their brother in Iraq, the cousin who is jobless, and the list goes on.
These people are simly trying to cover their karma ass but are too filled with propaganda, dogma and guilt to admit it.
Notice how weak any excuse for him is.
It always involves attacking the messenger.
Hi everybody! Just thought i'd stop by and let you know that my administration has decided that detainees don't have constitutional rights. That's right! I'm continuing another Bush policy just like sending more troops to Afghanistan, keeping the CIAs enhanced interrogation techniques, or torture as you all like to call it, FISA and so on. Basically i'm doing all the things that you say makes Bush a war criminal, but i know you won't call me a war criminal because you don't have the guts and it would mean you'd have to admit to yourselves that i played you like the fools you are. Have a great day!

Posted On: Sunday, Feb. 22 2009 @ 1:54PMThank you Neo and Jim. I am comforted knowing that you two are the voice of reason. I didn't feel like my comment was appologizing for Bush. It was a question of what you want from this man. If you feel like he should be prosecuted, then go for it - But do something. What good is it just blasting back and forth. What battle is won on this board? That was the point of my comment. Obama is in office now and I think it is great. Obama is asking for action...Not words. What good would it do for Obama to point fingers and say, "Look at what I'm left with...We are just screwed." He is taking action, promoting change. The strong words and hateful language are more of the same, and nothing new. Can we all honestly say we have no blood on our hands? Can we get behind our new leader and help. I certainly don't know what to do, and have done nothing as of yet to help, but I want to. Just saying shit, fuck, piss, or whatever isn't doing it for me. I don't think you are that convicted in your feelings...Lukewarm at most. Show me something. Now with that said..I like you sort of.

Barney Frank and Chis Dodd ignored the Bush administrations' equest to control Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac leading to the housing crash. It was Carter and Clinton who mandated that mortgage loans be made to people who can't afford them...brilliant economics. And you goobs blasting Bush who own homes? Here is another one.
Every economist has said (and its really common sense)that the economic downturn started before 2006. The Democratic Congress had hardly anything to do with it. The over spending and Republican Wall Street/Bankers did it.

Um, f="no again -
We also hear that it is the free market that is to blame. But the facts show that it was the government that pressured financial institutions in general to lend to subprime borrowers, with such things as the Community Reinvestment Act and, later, threats of legal action by then Attorney General Janet Reno if the feds did not like the statistics on who was getting loans and who wasn't.

Shame of you Bush haters! History will remember W as one of our greatest Presidents. He makes George Washington look like well, George H. W. Bush, just look at his record:
-After being warned by Clinton, Clarke, and the CIA "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US," W cancelled his vacation and sprung into action protecting us from an attack.
-Captured Osama Bin Ladin.
-Protected us from Saddam’s nuclear WMD’s, chemical weapons, and Bin Ladin’s terrorists.
-Iraq “Mission Accomplished” and Afghanistan so to be “Mission Accomplished”.
-His humble and thoughtful leadership was admired throughout the world.
-Protection of human rights spread freedom through out the world.
-Left the Middle East a more stable and peaceful place.
-Having inherited a surplus increased it to record levels.
-Set an example by having his military age children enlist to fight in the major conflict of our generation.
-Attended too many military funerals to count.
-Ensured that Iraq and Afghanistan injured vets got the best health care available.
-As a type “A” work-aholic rarely took a vacation.
-Successfully rebuilt the Gulf Coast and Galveston soon to another shining example of his leadership.
-Reduced North Korea’s nuclear weapons.
-Brought honor to the White House: Just ask Scooter Libby, Claude Allen, David H. Safavian, Karl Rove, Valerie Plame or Jeff Gannon.
-His Justice Department was a model for nonpartisan ethical conduct.
-His deregulation left our food safer, air and water cleaner, and drugs safer.
-His out reach to minorities will be unmatched.
Thanks to W’s economic policies I can retire early, without health insurance! So shame on you Bush Haters, he was a great president whose record speaks for its self.
Now where’s my kool-aid to go with my peanut butter sandwich?

Anyway, back to our former president, I do think he has a good sense of humor for showing up at Elliott's. I'm not a fan of his at all, but that is funny. I can hate the war he got us into, the disaster that is Afghanistan and soon to be all of Pakistan, the embarrassment of Guantanamo Bay, and those inane "signing memos," but still admire what he did for AIDS treatment and malaria prevention in Africa. He did more for that continent than Clinton ever did, that's for sure. But because he preferred dropping bombs to dropping his trousers to interns in his office, he'll never get credit for the (few) good things he did as president.

They are horribly uninformed and most of them have the intellect of a, well, a Democrat!

Posted On: Sunday, Feb. 22 2009 @ 8:15PMI agree we've had better leaders. But let's keep in mind that the president is not king. While the economy has taken a nose dive on W.'s watch, the problems have been building for years. In the 1950's, Americans used to have one of the highest savings rates in the world. Over time, we've become a nation that lives well beyond its means - both individually and collectively. Secondly, a major cause of the housing problem (and subsequent problems it helped trigger) was the initiative in a previous administration to make home ownership available to even those who really couldn't afford it. You can thank Barney Frank and Chris Dodd for this.
You are all acting like a bunch of sheep at an ugly pie eating contest.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make love to it when people are around.

"never read a newspaper other than the sports section. When they claim that Bush never found weapons of mass destruction" (2)
My neighbors' dog leaves things in my yard smarter than these fools. This is too easy:
(1) "WASHINGTON — The economy has cranked out fewer jobs under President Bush — by millions — than it had by the same point in the presidencies of Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton." FOX News http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,242424,00.html
(2) "Bush admits there were no WMDs in IRAQ"

Ed Wallace nailed this down, pointing out that actually the Alt-A loans, which were specifically crafted to AVOID CRA, Fannie, Freddy and FHA strictures. So your point on that issue is exactly wrong.
Now I've written that I feel obliged to punch Bush in the jaw. I doubt now that I would do it, but I imagine Bush being amenable to the idea.
I imagine admitting this to George. He grinning and saying, "we can't win everyone over." I would likely relent, hell I'm like a big puppy. But say, "I feel you really needed to be more skeptical. I think you failed us, by not inviting an honest discussion."
"Well, I can tell you that when you have to protect the American people, you'll be willing to everything you could."
"Perhaps, but..."
"Tell you ya what, go ahead and give me your best shot, and let's talk Cowboys."
"Nah," I don't hate Bush, I don't think that is fair. In different times, he might reign over a period of benign neglect. But, he proved to be a tragic failure, who will prove to be the worst Pres. of all time.

But there was really no need to re-post it at all since it's the same "look at how above it all i am, i'm oh so much better than you people" comment you always make.
I browsed over this thread again just now, and other than the first few comments by Anonymous ( a different one in case you haven't figured that out) the comments are typical differences between left and right. Did it get heated? Sure, so what? That's called human nature, it doesn't mean people are "radicals" as you always call them. They have a right to be passionate about their beliefs even if you think it's uncouth.
Why does this sick, evil excuse for a human being have to be living in Dallas? Given the wasting of lives (both US military and Iraqi), the war profiteering, the torturing, the economic wreckage, and making the US look like a laughing stock to the rest of the world... Does Dallas really want to be associated with this? Usually if you're a world leader and you leave a legacy like this, you take off for some remote location in South America. But I guess this man has no sense of shame. And someone mentioned 'it's over...' No, it's not over. Bush's time in office is over, but he has left the rest of the country having to pick up after his mess. He is a criminal and should be tried for his crimes.
Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 12:25PMAnonymous, please accept my heartfelt apology. I can't believe I confused Anonymous Bush bashing blather with Anonymous Bush bashing blather.
For future reference, are you? A. Anonymous or B. Anonymous
Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 12:46PMI don't usually weigh in on a thread filled with this much FAIL but Bush's administration can't be responsible for the current economic crisis. It's too big and too complex on a global scale for any single US administration to produce. The causes and effects are spread out all over the world. To paraphrase Pauli, to say Bush is responsible for the economic crisis isn't right, it's not even wrong.

Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 1:04PMI don't really like Bush. I think his presidency was a failure. But if you aren't from Texas or currently live in Texas, kindly GTFO out of our comments. Thanks.
Bart Starr was overrated!
Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 1:07PMYeah and Republican = BAD, even if you're a moderate. See, the far fringes on the left (or right, for that matter) don't understand anything about the concept that some is better than none, it's all-or-nothing for the far fringes. Therefore, in their minds, if you are anywhere other than with them on the far fringes, then you are squarely in the far fringes of the other side, there's no in between.
And it's why we have ridiculously long internet rants such as this one, which started out, simply enough, about a story of a local hardware store capitalizing on some publicity surrounding the fact that our Ex Prez now lives here. Clever too, considering that Elliot's ain't doing so good these days. Wanna do something positive? Skip Home Depot and get your DIY supplies at Elliot's.
Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 1:20PMApparently it never occurred to you intellectual giants that just because a comment says Anonymous doesn't mean it's the same person. Anonymous is the default nic given by this blog if no other is entered.

Apparently it never occurred to you nameless weenies that the rest of us can't be bothered to tell you apart. Make up a name (what, you think my parents actually christened me Knottygirl?) and stand behind what you post here. Though as the great Lakewooder points out, you all kind of blend together on this particular topic. Even with names, I'm not sure anyone could distinguish one of you from the other.
And just out of idle curiosity, what exactly ticked you (whichever one of "you," that is) off about my factual statement that the guy who invented lobotomies won the Nobel Prize for medicine? It wasn't directed at anyone (other than the long-dead members of that year's Nobel committee, I guess). It does mean that I take Nobel laureates with a grain of salt. Yasser Arafat, that great peacemaker, soooo deserved his Peace Prize, after all.

I hope there isn't a conflict of interest...

But, what are you doing about all this besides giving us all the CAPS LOCK of anger tirade?

Wow, almost 100 comments...what is this, a Ticket post?
It is amazing to see that misfocused anger and stupidity knows no political lines.
Anybody who thinks that one person, one program or one anything caused the downfall of the economy is naive and not all that bright.
That being said, anybody who thinks one person, program or one anything is going to come along and fix it is also mistaken.
The economy is far too complex for one bad wheel to cause it to spin out of control.
No matter which side of the aisle you pledge your allegiance to, you better hope like hell what Obama is doing is going to at least help a little. If you want him to fail because he's a liberal or a democrat or because he's not your guy, go ahead and be nearsighted.
Newsflash: George Bush will not be remembered as a good president. What amazing political analysis. He's still famous, like him or not, and he's local...hence he will be covered by the media. Don't like it? Don't read it.

Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 3:49PMSo after 100 + comments, the one that gets deleted was the fairly innocuous one by "w" (for those who missed it, it was right before Fake Sports Panties comment at 3:21)? Normally i'd say that makes no sense, but it seems to fit well in this thread.
Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 3:55PMIt was deleted for the use of a racial epithet. If that makes no sense to you, well, that too seems to fit well in this thread.
Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 4:01PMI don't remember seeing a racial epithet in that comment, but i could have just missed it.

Posted On: Monday, Feb. 23 2009 @ 10:12PMUm, I'm here at Elliott's and we're all reading through the fan mail (which WE CAN'T FIND). Dick Cheney is coming next week to wrestle Hillary Clinton; we've decided we may go national (disclaimer: our nephew works at CNN; our mother is at NBC and I once had lunch with Dan Rather).
The staff was surprised to see themselves eclipsed by one celebrity shopper; honestly, rich celebrities with hardware needs (or lost on Maple Avenue past the projects) are here all the time, what's the big deal?
Come in, let us direct you to something. It'll be fun. Maybe we can help you find the Bush Library. Or a bronzed knob. Or that special bearing-parer. Shop our Dollar Bin. Please, just come in; it was a simple exercise in American Advertising, that's all.
Oh, and one of our associates said you're all a bunch of pussies. Please come in and prove them wrong. Peace and Love.

Posted On: Tuesday, Feb. 24 2009 @ 5:20PM"Yelling at a tornado for destroying a city won't get it cleaned up." Thanks for this priceless wisdom!
What so many fail to realize is that the President, whomever he is, can only do what those around him allow him to do. I suggest you talk to your congressman about what ails you about this administration or the last. The people we put in office are the ones making the decisions …all of the people we put in office…the president has only a small percent of that power…yes we see his face more often & yes he gets the brunt of the jokes and the madness but ultimately it is up to us to make a difference everyday, every minute of everyday… this is our country, he is but one of us…no one man can save us or damn us.
We have to stop hiding behind and blaming someone else for our mistakes…we have to stop relying on someone else to do our work… we have to work to make this a better place for us all. And, folks, we can do this…it’s but one more challenge…the world is watching us, not just President Bush or President Obama they are watching us… “What are the Americans going to do now?” they say. Well I’ll tell you what this American is going to do. I am going to get off my butt and do the daily work necessary to save myself.
What are you going to do?
