A New Lowe for Bush Library

Categories: News
alanlowe.jpgThat headline's intended with all due respect -- because, see, the new director of the George W. Bush Presidential Library on the SMU campus will be Bourbon County, Kentucky, native Alan Lowe, currently exec director of the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy on the University of Tennessee at Knoxville campus. (That's him at right.) His appointment to the position was announced today, though he won't assume the position till April. Says this morning's media release, courtesy the National Archives, Lowe's been in the National Archives Presidential Libraries system for 14 years, during which time he "helped to oversee twelve Presidential libraries located throughout the nation," including his first gig at the Ronald Reagan library.

And, please, keep this in mind: "Once constructed, the library and museum will be operated by the National Archives and Records Administration. The independent public policy institute will be operated by the Bush Foundation."
