Look Out, Maker of Black & Mild Cigars -- Dwaine Caraway's Coming For You

The city council won't take up Dwaine Caraway's proposal to outlaw single-cigar sales in the city of Dallas today. But if you think this is the end of it, you're dead wrong. Caraway vowed today during the council's meeting to take the issue to "Mr. Obama, to Ms. Hutchison, to whoever it takes." Indeed, just as he did with the Pull Up Your Pants campaign, Caraway is looking to launch what he calls "a national appeal to the manufacturer of Black & Milds to stop the poisoning of our community." The cigars are made by Pennsylvania-based John Middleton, which is owned by Altria Group -- which also owns Philip Morris USA.

Calling the issue "bigger than I thought," Caraway waved off those with their "typewriters" who scoff at his passion for this issue. Said the deputy mayor pro tem, "Those who just wanna type or think I am stupid, that's too bad." So get ready.

"I'm gonna deal with this issue because it affects the community -- primarily the African American community, the southern sector, Hispanics and everyone else," he said. "I'm going to appeal to the retailers here in this city to recognize what they're doing, and, councilmen, I'm gonna need your help, because this is a really big fight. It's killing families."

Caraway did indeed receive a few words of encouragement from a handful of fellow council members, among them Ron Natinsky. Said Mayor Tom Leppert to Caraway, "I don't think is an issue most of us knew about till you brought it forward." And there's no going backward now.

i was just wondring about all of the peope in the dallas area who actually smoke black and milds. i am from atlanta and i smoke black and milds and they just went up to $4.00 a pack. i would be pissed if this idiot was trying to outlaw single black and mild sales just for the pure fact that i buy single black and milds. anyways when people smoke reefer around here it is very very rarely in a black and mild maybe a swisher cigarillo or a dutch master or even a true blunt or royal blunt wrap paper that dosent even have tobacco paper in it. what are you trying to do dude????

The taste of a blunt is nice. It is a different experience. My dealer smokes blunts, which is the only time I smoke blunts, then expects me to rate the smoke. Hell, it's all different with the tobacco.
Dwaine Carraway! Proudly wasting time, money, and political capital on ignorant ideas while his district suffers. While he fits right in with the rest of the city council, at least he is not causing the kind of economic damage some of the others on the council are doing. Such as nanny state smoking bans and truckloads of money spent on a bound to fail city hotel and atoll road to nowhere.
Just a quick aside here, if I may: Why to people do this, rip open cigars and roll their weed up in the leaf/paper/whatever? I don't get the appeal. Just buy a fucking pack of papers already. If that don't float your boat, then try a pipe. Beyond that, it's called a BONG stupid. WTF??

Let's see, a 1/4 oz of good bud's like $120 - $160, and a 5 pack of cigars is a couple of bucks. Hell, yeah! Why didn't they think of this sooner? The limiting factor on marijuana use is the couple bucks for the cigars! Don't you see it? The typical marijuana fiend - or reefer addict, as it were - can't see past the next blunt. So, if you confound him by making him buy five cigars instead of one, he'll be so confused that he'll just wander away and quit using completely. Brilliant in it's simplicity. Wouldn't you say?
