Congress gets back to business on Tuesday, and if
Texas Republican John Cornyn has anything to say about it, Minnesota will only have one senator seated. That's because Cornyn, about to be installed as chairman of the
National Republican Senatorial Committee, vowed today to keep Al Franken out of the Senate, going so far as to
threaten a filibuster if
the former Saturday Night Live writer-performer shows his face in D.C. before
the Minnesota senatorial recount is settled in court. Says Cornyn, if Franken were allowed to bring
his 50-vote lead to the Senate chambers, well, that would give the Senate a "
reputation for chaos." Surely, the NRSC's description of Franken as an "
angry liberal" doesn't factor in here at all.
