Council to Consider Telling Central Expressway Downtown to Straighten Up, Fly Right

• Will it? I don't see that in the plans; Pearl appears unchanged south of Elm. The rectification of Central is in anticipation of the Pegasus Project, which among other things will replace the aggies-on-acid-designed interchange of Central and I-30. See http://www.projectpegasus.org/

• But what that map doesn't appear to show is one of the oldest buildings in downtown Dallas - at Elm and Pearl - getting knocked down for a wider road. Not good.

• As if Central expy wasn't clogged enough as it is... MORE CONSTRUCTION... Huzzah!!! ww

• Yes, I usually do click the many, many links in the posts here, it's just that those Dallas City council PDF's take longer to load than I had time for yesterday.

• So let me see if I understand.... downtown, the part of the city that is the most walkable... in a city that claims to be striving to be more pedestrian friendly... wants to replace a 40' wide downtown city street with a 6 lane divided street to improve traffic flow downtown.... wow, that's GREAT!

• Alas, I'd recommend the agenda briefing anyway -- though, I swear, in the morning, I'll make the sucker poster-sized, suitable for framing.

• Clicked on the map and got a pop-up barely any bigger than that which is in the post. Had to go get my readers.
