Whilst out and about Saturday night, the missus and I were hypnotized to the point of distraction by the strobe-light twinklings coming from the new Park Lane development off N. Central Expressway. After the jump, a brief video from the residential high-rise under construction across the expressway from NorthPark Center; we grabbed it while at the red light. (Could have just parked there and sketched the thing: Everyone at the intersection seemed transfixed in place, except the dude in the Hummer who ran the red.) I assume that's a holiday thing -- the management company's off-site and couldn't answer our questions -- but that could use some Daft Punk. Still, someone might wanna bone up on their medical journals. --Robert Wilonsky The Bright Lights of Progress from Dallas Observer on Vimeo.
I think it adds to the holiday season! It looks beautiful and it is certainly nice to see the lights at night on my way to the mall. I will be stopping by to check this place out!
I think it looks beautiful!! The building is a nice improvement to the area and the lights look amazing!

Who can complain about lights during Christmas? Spend a Christmas away from loved ones and this will brighten your day. During these ever-more-secular times when I find a company actually observing the season it makes me want to check them out. I say Bravo, Merry Christmas and Bah Humbug to the rest of you.
How can anyone not like this? Spend a Christmas away from your loved ones and you'll realize stuff like this make America great. In fact a business that makes the effort to recognize the season has themselves in my corner. I think I'll wander inside and see what they offer, and I'll bet it's worth the effort.
If you haven't seen the light show across from NorthPark Mall you are missing a fine display of holiday cheer folks! The eye catching twinkle certainly stirred my curiosity, so, I stopped by the leasing office for a viewing of the models. Fancy stuff kids!
The doorman informed me there is noone living in the twinkle wonderland just yet (but the two other buildings are alive with tenants).
Drive by. Stop by. You will be impressed!
OneEyedJack!
I think it looks amazing, it is nice to see one of those big power houses in the downtown area actually acknowledge the holiday season!!!!
I don't think Mothra can see it from Japan.
No, still not Daft Punk worthy. If it had lasers shooting out of it maybe, but still probably no.
I looked at their web site. Rent for an 1100 sq ft one-bedroom / one-bath on a lower floor of the tower is $2400 a month.
That's a little less per square foot than I pay for my condo, they are going after people that can afford a nice condo/house but don't want to be tied down to the commitment of a purchase or take a risk in this kind of market. I don't know what kind of amenities they offer but for that price they better offer valet and a 24 concierge.
Given the finish out and location I don't know that the prices they are asking are unreasonable although it does limit the potential market.
I looked at their web site. Rent for an 1100 sq ft one-bedroom / one-bath on a lower floor of the tower is $2400 a month. Larger units on upper floors are priced at two to three times as much. Add to that the cost of the armed bodyguard you'll need to walk your dog in that neighborhood after dark.
I live there and they didn't exactly send a memo letting us know. Not that it's a problem really, but def a surprise, surprise, surprise. My home is a NorthPark Center dance club. Now where did I put my glow sticks?? Oh yeah in the 1999 storage bin right next to my read pleather pants. However, it is sorta pretty...those are the same twinkles you can find on the Eiffel Tower.
Well, P-Rude, the irony is those strobe lights are connected to the fire alarm notification system. I guess someone left it in test mode over the weekend.
I saw the "show" while driving down central on Saturday night and decided that it was the most distracting thing they could do next to setting the building on fire. At the risk of sounding like my mother "They need to unplug that thing before it causes an accident."
