New Candidate Joins Race To Replace Mitchell Rasansky on Council
Ryan's campaign will be managed by Leppert's ally, Allyn & Company, and his treasurer is familiar too, new Bush neighbor Tom Hicks. "Brint has made a career and a very successful business by being a fiscal watchdog for his clients, so his skills are a perfect fit," Hicks says in a press release from Mari Woodlief, president of Allyn & Company. "He's exactly what taxpayers need at City Hall."
Rather than focus on big-ticket items like the hotel, Ryan's campaign attacks the money spent on big screen TVs at City Hall. "Our families don't need flat screen TVs at City Hall," Ryan says in the release. "We need more police patrolling our neighborhoods. We need street, sidewalk and alleyway improvements. We need better parks and green spaces. And we need less wasteful spending at City Hall."
Leppert is planning to endorse candidates in the upcoming elections; however, his chief of staff, Chris Heinbaugh told The News that he wouldn't be endorsing anyone in the open races for Districts 1 and 13 (Garcia and Rasansky). Ryan joins Margolin and Raj Narayanan as candidates to replace Rasansky, who is leaving because of term limits. --Sam Merten
