Leppert "Always Enjoyed" Jennifer Gale

Earlier today, we posted the comment from former mayoral candidate (and current candidate for Dallas County judge) Sam Coats regarding the death of Jennifer Gale. Gale didn't do as well as Coats in the 2007 battle for Dallas mayor, but she was able to finish ahead of John Cappello and Edward Okpa. The guy who finished first, Tom Leppert, offered the following statement to Unfair Park. --Sam Merten

"Jennifer was always a very nice person. She was very polite, very engaging. While you could argue with some of her positions, she was very passionate about what she believed in. I always enjoyed her."

Leppert is far from arrogant or egomaniac... the two most recent Mayors immediately spring to mind for the prizes in those categories. Besides, I don't really care that he made the decision to cut broadcast access to the afternoon speakers. I think both Kirk and LaMiller tried to violate Texas open meeting laws by proposing doing things far more drastic. Speakers can still speak, but we just won't have to hear all the BS that the afternoon speakers spew. The council will still have to sit through it, but we can all enjoy Mozart instead. If you want to hear the council meeting and all the speakers, then go down there and listen yourself; Leppert's not stopping you and nobody has a right to listen to it- or to be heard- on the radio.
I can just see the Mayor That Saved Dallas now. " ... as a tribute to Jennifer's passion and ideas, cut her mic. Get that citizen out of here! Make sure her statements don't ever see public access airwaves again. Next!"
Leppert is a good mayor. He would be great if he wore red suits like Angela Hunt
All right, all right, Leppert's an arrogant megalomaniac, but there's no profit in refusing to accept a gracious statement with graciousness in kind.
I do not...for one second...believe this mayor had the least bit of respect for Jennifer Gale. He doesn't care about anyone, or anything but himself and his hair. He is, by far, the most ineffective Mayor this city has ever seen. Worthless, ignorant and arrogant. Perhaps if he learned to respect those that speak before him, he might gain some respect himself. Until such time, he just turn over the keys to the office on Angela Hunt.
Anonymous, your comment is funny but so not true. Mayor Leppert went out of his way to show all candidates respect. I remember during a mayoral candidates' meeting where free food was provided. Jennifer made it a point to advise me to take extra food home, so I could have something to eat later on. I thought it was odd for anyone to think I worried about my next meal. (Maybe my mom's right and I'm too thin.)
