Behind ESPN/ABC Sports Boss, Jerry Jones is Most Powerful Man in Sports.

Jones_Jerry_150.jpgThe morning after his Dallas Cowboys find themselves two wins from clinching a wild-card spot, owner and general manager Jerry Jones is still pretty high -- which is to say, he sits at No. 2 on Sports Business Journal's list of sports' 50 Most Influential figures. Jones is behind only George Bodenheimer, president of ESPN/ABC Sports -- makes sense. As for Jones, he's up 13 spots from last year's list. How come? One billion guesses.
A $1 billion stadium opening in 2009, a concessions partnership with the New York Yankees, borrowing $350 million at the peak of the credit crisis, struggling to find a naming-rights company in a sour economy, arguing for the NFL Network to gain cable distribution. Oh, did we mention that Jerry Jones also has a football team under his wing that plays in Dallas and gets a bit of attention.
But for some bad news now, this poll being conducted on DallasCowboys.com: Which song should be the last ever played in Texas Stadium, following next week's tussle with the Ravens? An inevitable but nonetheless terrible list of options. --Robert Wilonsky
