Poll Position

[Editor's note: Apologies to Friends of Unfair Park who tried to post comments earlier this morning; they were stuck in a dead server, which also delayed posting and which has since been repaired. So I've been promised.]

Took all of three minutes to vote this morning at Leonides Cigarroa Elementary School, where the Fightin' 1117 struggled to break the 40-voter mark by 7:20 a.m. Woulda taken one minute, though, had the woman in front of me been able to find her voter registration card or even driver's license; instead, she offered an expired temporary I.D. and failed smile. In all, it took longer to get a bagel and coffee this morning, though I was, admittedly, an undecided voter: bacon, cheese and egg, or cream cheese? What would Bob Barr do? Lox, probably. Had planned on stopping by Starbucks for a free cup of hot voted, but who has the time to wait in that line now that all freeloaders are welcome? (Hot damn, Krispy Kreme for lunch!) Word is much of Northwest Dallas is line-free this a.m.; how's it where you are?

A programming note: Later this evening and into the night, the entire Unfair Park gang, and a few special guests, will be out covering the parties' parties; Elaine Liner's also out and about throughout the day with her video camera, always a treat. And, forthcoming: a lunchtime contest courtesy the hardest working art director in show business.

Oh. and speaking of presidents, this morning Dallas Independent School District trustee Carla Ranger ain't happy with hers; on her blog, she calls out Jack Lowe for refusing to schedule the no-confidence vote concerning superintendent Michael Hinojosa. "Even When You Do It Right," she writes, using way too many capital letters, "the Board President Will Still Do It Wrong even if it means violating Board policy." --Robert Wilonsky
