Foreign policy, the economy, the Dallas real estate market -- there was much to discuss.

First Lady Laura Bush teamed up with the Jonas Brothers Sunday, helping dozens of Dallas sixth-graders sort dirt and spread seed at the new Trinity River Audubon Center.

The event was a commemoration of the one-year anniversary of First Bloom, a National Park Foundation program helping city kids explore nature and learn about native plants. It was the first time student groups have visited the new Audubon center since it opened two weeks ago.

In an elaborate photo op, the First Lady and the pop trio had the chance to roll balls of grass seeds, then hurl them into an empty field near the new center. The grass, of course, was bushy bluestem -- just one of many little-known extensions of the Bush name. Nice to know it'll be taking over fields along the Trinity right about the time the Bushes themselves move to town.

"Bet you never thought you'd be rolling seed balls with the Jonas Brothers," Bush told one group of students at the event. There were giggles and elbow-prodding, but for the most part the kids all kept their cool -- or their dumb-founded silence -- in the stars' presence, shaking hands politely and patiently walking them through the finer points of seed-rolling.
