• former student, thanks so much, but I do understand that economics is moving in the direction of including more behavioral / psychological / sociological factors -- my point is that Berg's sociology appears to be heavily infested by the typical liberal-PC-academic orthodoxy, e.g. that homophobia and racism are two of the biggest problems facing America today, etc etc. But as long as he doesn't try to inflate those into central issues in economics, whatever.

• ROB, You should reconsider commenting on something you know nothing about. Berg is tenured because they don't want to lose him - he performs research in exciting and up and coming areas and he could become a big name in the profession. And to put economics in quotes is ignorant to the extreme - the field is hopefully moving to a more realistic view of the world, not some list of pie-in-the-sky assumptions that break down in real life and ignoring any work done in other social sciences like psychology. And this is where Berg's research comes in. And as everyone knows universities are about research, not teaching. But Berg was also a pretty good teacher - a great wealth of knowledge, but a poor preparer. And to be perfectly honest, I was a little shocked to discover his politics because most econ professors are pretty conservative - in the one class of his politics was never mentioned in a subjective way.
