First Baptist's Robert Jeffress Still No Fan of the "Non-Christian"

Categories: Religion
Robert Jeffress, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas

News of this meeting of the minds has been slow to trickle down from D.C., but on September 26 Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church in downtown Dallas and attorney Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law & Justice got together to talk about whether or not a political candidate's religion was, like, important or something? And, once again, Jeffress referred to Mormon Mitt Romney as a member of a "cult." Then he really got going:

"I believe we should always support a Christian over a non-Christian. The value of electing a Christian goes beyond public policies. ... Christians are uniquely favored by God, [while] Mormons, Hindus and Muslims worship a false god. The eternal consequences outweigh political ones. It is worse to legitimize a faith that would lead people to a separation from God."
