You're Excellent Too, Jeff Pearlman

Categories: Media, Sports

As you're no doubt aware, Jeff Pearlman's tell-most Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys Dynasty is in stores. And this morning, The New York Times features a lengthy Q&A with the author, in which he picks Michael Irvin as the most "indispensable" Cowboys of that era, damns Skip Bayless for outing the straight Troy Aikman ("Evil. Absolute evil.") and says Jimmy Johnson's more important than Jerry Jones (because "there are a lot of rich men with deep pockets who can buy football teams").

Also noted in the Q&A, the book begins with the infamous training-camp incident involving Irvin, Everett McIver and a pair of scissors -- which, Pearlman says, has been discussed in full only once before -- "and that was with the Dallas Observer, the city’s excellent weekly," awww. But, yup, it was six years ago, when Irvin chatted with Bible Girl about that subject and many, many others. --Robert Wilonsky
