What Do Jessica Simpson and Sarah Palin Have in Common? Ask a UTD Prof!

Categories: News

Two years ago, University of Texas-Dallas economics professor Catherine Eckel co-authored, with a Rice U. prof, a paper called Judging a Book by its Cover: Beauty and Expectations in the Trust Game. The premise: There's such a thing called "the beauty penalty," which, if I'm reading this right, means folks get real, like, disappointed and shit when someone attractive lets them down. Eckel will be on 20/20 tomorrow night to explain herself, as John Stossel wonders if it's really worth being beautiful. Most curious thing about the teaser: the photos accompanying the story, which include Sarah Palin and Jessica Simpson! --Robert Wilonsky
