Morning Announcements

Categories: News

Two items of interest in the in-box this a.m. First, from the U.S. Attorney's office, an announcement concerning the gathering of the area's top cops at 11 a.m. today: "U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper and Special Agent in Charge James L. Capra of the Dallas DEA, will be joined by Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins and Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle and other representatives of federal, state and local law enforcement at a press conference TODAY to announce arrests made locally as part of massive international drug enforcement operation." Seized items will be exhibited -- but only for photographing. Intern Daniel's interested and attending with his photographing device.

Also: The Parkland bond campaign kicks off tomorrow, with a 1:30 p.m. “Vote FOR Parkland” rally at Old City Park, during which yard signs will be doled out for planting. Which gives Parkland Hospital’s Board of Managers and the Dallas County Commissioners Court less than two months to convince taxpayers to shell out $747 million for a "862-bed adult inpatient hospital (including a Level 1 Trauma Center and Burn Center), outpatient center, office building and parking." Commissioners and state reps expected to attend. Also, the city council will debut the rehabbed Cotton Bowl today at noon, which is how I plan on spending my lunch hour. --Robert Wilonsky
