Lawsuit Alleges SMU Women's Basketballers Told They Weren't Doing Their Personal Best

Jennifer Colli

Jennifer Colli's mighty impressive bio is still up on the SMU women's basketball page, but the 5-foot-10 guard from Flower Mound is no longer on the team -- which is why she has sued the school in U.S. District Court in Dallas. She claims the school illegally yanked her scholarship not long after she complained about comments made by coach Rhonda Rompola. From the KTVT-Channel 11 story:

In her lawsuit Colli claims Coach Rhonda Rompola regularly asked her and her teammates about their relationships with each other. In the lawsuit Colli says that on at least one occasion her coaches criticized players during a game, questioning whether the reason they're weren't performing well was because they didn't "get any" the night before.
And now Colli, who says her pro hoop dreams have been dashed by SMU, wants $2 million. --Robert Wilonsky
