"Dandy" Don Meredith Has a Cowboys Fight Song He'd Like You to Hear

Categories: Music, Sports
And it'll only cost you $100, or thereabouts ...

With the Cowboys set to kick off the regular season in Cleveland Sunday, there really is no better time to get in the mood -- even better if your flavor of football soundtrack skews toward the triumphant exultations of the marching band. Because back in 1960, RCA Victor released an album called The National Football League Marching Songs, on which Don Meredith intros the little-heard "Go Dallas Cowboys," catchy title. The album can be yours for the low, low price of ... five dollars? That's all?

Or, even better, the greatness of WFMU's Beware of the Blog today posted the entirety of the record, broken down into individual MP3s for those who can do without "The Eagles' Victory Song." Because, really, to hell with Philadelphia and anyone who likes them, especially this feller. Really, John, "cretins"? You stay classy. --Robert Wilonsky
