An Unfair Park Exclusive: Harlan Crow's PAC to Gather Signatures for Dallas Convention Center Hotel Referendum

Categories: News

In the May 15 paper version of Unfair Park, we danced around the notion of Crow Holdings spearheading an effort that would allow taxpayers to have a say in their financing, to the tune of $550 million, a convention center hotel. Since then, the creation of a political action committee by Crow Holdings executive Anne Raymond, along with Raymond speaking against public ownership of the hotel to area business groups, only fueled speculation that Mayor Tom was facing another referendum.

Now, after months of exploring how best to put a monkey wrench in the plans for the hotel project, Citizens Against a Taxpayer Owned Hotel will announce tomorrow morning plans to begin a signature-gathering petition drive, Unfair Park has learned. We’ll have much more on this tomorrow, but until then ponder the marriage between Harlan Crow and political consultant Brooks Love, who were on opposite sides of the Trinity River toll road referendum just months ago. --Sam Merten
