T. Boone Now Owns Your Trash's Gas

Categories: Biz
T. Boone Pickens

T. Boone Pickens has himself a new acquisition this a.m.: the McCommas Bluff Landfill on Youngblood Road, which the City of Dallas owns and plans to shut down in 2042. Actually, to be more specific, Pickens' Clean Energy Fuels, which distributes natural gas for transportation in the U.S., has purchased for $19.1 million Dallas Clean Energy, which owns the landfill's gas processing plant. Notes the Clean Energy media release this morning of its reason for buying the landfill: "It is estimated that pipeline quality methane gas will continue to be produced for approximately 30 years after the landfill closes." --Robert Wilonsky

More or less related update: Not five minutes after I posted this, Frank Librio, in the city's Public Information Office, passed along this update from the City Auditor's Office concerning the McCommas Bluff Landfill's implementation of plans to make more cash from our trash. None of which have to with Pickens' acquisition, but, rather, the raising of fees out at the dump.
