Don Hill's Genius Idea

Don Hill's tried all kind of ways to get out from under the feds' indictments in the City Hall low-income-housing bribery and extortion case, including last month's claim that federal prosecutors are racist. But two weeks after a federal judge released documents in which prosecutors say they intend to prove Hill had "financial difficulties" that provided him with a motive comes this bit of legal brilliance, courtesy KTVT-Channel 11: "Former Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill has asked a federal judge to have the government pay for his defense in the upcoming bribery and extortion trial involving low-income housing." His attorney says Hill can't pay the bill. --Robert Wilonsky
