There were two things I took away from this article...that Corby really is an a-hole and that we will continue to hear and read about Greggo's battles with addiction until it kills him. I hold little hope that either of them will change.
They always treated Greggo like a dumb redneck. Frankly, the new Not-So-Hardline talks down to people who aren't the hip Dallas crowd. For example, Danny Balis went on a rip the other day about how much Arlington stinks and how he hates going to ballgames there. Rhyner is a Dallas-only guy and never seems to talk or know much about anyplace westward. Greggo would never talk down to anyone. If he goes to ESPN, I'm going with the guy from Wise County.
I guess I just don't understand the views like Moses posted. If you read the article and listened to the Hardline response, you might understand their actions a little better. If I had a coworker that thought so little of me and other coworkers, and his actions directly affected my job, then I wouldn't have any problem at all watching him get fired. Williams consistantly lied and made the overall atmosphere of the office intolerable. Add the drug use that Williams admits to, and I wouldn't have a problem dropping him from my list of friends. There is a time when enough is enough, and I believe the guys were sick of his lies, excuses and being an overall wet blanket. As sad as it it, some people just aren't worth fighting for.
I'm glad the truth finally came out. It's ashame how Greggo threw everything away like that, but it's also sad how his former employer (The Ticket) treated him. I'm shocked that they were willing to violate HIPPA, ADA and other labor laws to remove him. The ticket is still my favorite radio staiton, but my perception of the Ticket as the fun fraternity like atmosphere has changed, especially toward the Hardline. I'm also really disappointed by Rhyner's comments in this article. I hope one day he will put friends before business and make amends with Greggo. If his new radio shows comes to fruition I'll be listening.
