Shell Game: Or, Now What's Up with the Preston Royal Corner?

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 01:24:33 PM

What you see above is the former Shell station at the intersection of Preston Road and Royal Lane. Despite what we'd been told in February -- that Shell was retrofitting the property, which has been a gas station as long as I can recall -- not so much. Don't know who owns it now, but Highland Park Village-based Expedition Capital Partners is handling the sale for the new owner, who took possession two weeks ago. Expedition's Jason Claro says he "can't comment on" who he's repping or what's likely to go in there (like, oh, I dunno -- a bank?), only that interested parties can buy the property outright or just lease it. He did ask us to e-mail him so he could send our info to his client, who's out of town. Did I say "bank"? --Robert Wilonsky

Where's Greggo?

That corner needs another bank. There are only five there now, including two Chase branches.

Brandon says:

Kind of off the subject, but I heard Ball's is getting replaced with a Dunkin' Donuts at the end of July. That would be a crime.

Matt says:

A few weeks ago, they appeared to be digging out the underground gas storage tanks at that location.

Alrefo says:

Jenny would probably like that corner

Mike says:

Still haven't seen a good explanation for the bank chain explosion.
