Dallas, Not Living the High Life

• I still maintain that all the underground tunnels make Dallas look like the set from Omega Man. Anyone coming from out of town are going to think that Dallas is a wasteland. It's like all the CHUD are topside and the business people are living in the sewers. Personally I think the Dallas Art District plans and all the green spaces are a brilliant example of city planning. But if everyone is underground in those shitty 1970s tunnels, what's the point?

• Gonzo, the plans for the arts district were around long before the Boeing decision and it's not like the children of most of the execs would be going to DISD schools anyways. Besides, is Chicago's public school system that much better? Maybe it is, but I doubt it. The point is, decisions like this aren't based on arts districts or even public school reputations.

• I wanted the headline, "Dallas Arts District Fails First Big Test". You know, since we built it after Boeing told us we had no culture and our schools sucked. Building a bunch o' buildings being easier than fixing the DISD, we built us a pretty 'ol Arts District...which didn't work. On to the task of fixing up the DISD, or shall we build more buildings with no particular sense of continuity but happen to be in the same rough geographic area?
