In fact, The Big Guy would like tto point out that June Jones's name is not even mentioned. In fact, since according to Christopher, boosters "fronted" the money (The Big Guy wonders what "fronted" and "boosters" mean in this context), the editorials point about deficit spending by the athletic department is even more relevant. The Big Guy wonders if Christopher can help The Big Guy understand how the A&H faculty at SMU can find some "Boosters" to "Front" some money without going through the SMU administration first.

• Well, if June Jones is right about his lofty goal of getting SMU to a BCS game within five years, let's hope he doesn't allow them to get shellacked against a quality opponent like he did when Hawaii got their butts handed to them by Georgia in this past year's Sugar Bowl.

• Re: The Linked Daily Campus Opinion The boosters fronted the money to pay Jones' salary with specific intent for procuring a high-calibre FB coach. The money didn't go through SMU administration first, who then decided to give it to Jones instead of the DeGolyer Library/Mathematics/whatever other worthy faculty at SMU. People talk of that salary as if it was their money that was suddenly and unfairly ripped away. If SMU departments are feeling gypped, under-funded or under-appreciated, they should get Turner to follow Orsini's lead and gather his own little circle of art and humanity champions to help front the money for whatever project that discipline deems more necessary. I like people who invest in projects that benefit them. Complaining faculty should be doing a better job of creating alumni interest in their programs rather than lamenting Jones' money. Lame.

• Yeah, because as we all know, having solid academics and high GPA requirements is the surest step towards NCAA athletic success. Smarter student athletes means better student athletes! *rolls eyes*
