Inwood Gets a Kick in the LoveSac

Tue May 20, 2008 at 12:48:55 PM

A couple of weeks ago, a Friend of Unfair Park asked, "Why did they replace all the doors at the Inwood Theatre?" Didn't really know why -- till now. Because Landmark Theatres sends word that today, it'll debut the Living Roomâ„¢ Auditorium -- and about time too, as the downstairs theater was a shadow of a shadow of the swank leather-bound screening rooms upstairs installed during the '05 redo. Only, it means what, exactly? Notes the release, which points out that Landmark's, um, Landmark in Los Angeles already has a Living Roomâ„¢ auditorium:

Landmark completely re-invented the first-floor auditorium of the Inwood with a variety of unique seating options including couches, loveseats, chairs and ottomans, as well as the original LoveSac. A private bar also was added, allowing patrons to purchase cocktails and soft drinks without ever leaving the auditorium.
The thing debuts just in time: with this week's opening at the Inwood of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Trust me -- you'll be very, very glad there's a couch and a fully stocked bar nearby. --Robert Wilonsky

uh-oh, sounds like Indy should have retired.

KSK says:

Man, an on/off for the painfully loud OONTS OONTS on that Landmark page would be nice.

And will we get a genuine "Oh, it's TERRIBLE" from Robert regarding Indy?

how hard is it to have sex in a been bag? ..i bet someone figures it out before too long.

Never one to disappoint, KSK:

It. Is. Terrrrrrible. See my review tomorrow. If you dare.

SB says:

I hope it's not terrible in a Temple of Doom kind of way. Every time I see Kate Capshaw on-screen I want to stick a fork in my eye.

Makes Temple of Doom look like Raiders. And as much as I think the middle film's the weak link in the original, ah, trilogy, it does contain two of the franchise's best sequences: the opening scene in the restaurant, and the mine-shaft roller-coaster ride.

SB says:

Ugh. Robert, the hissing sound you hear is the balloon of my excitement slowly deflating. You really know how to dampen a girl's hopes.

Well, look at it this way: Perhaps I am lowering your expectations to the point where you'll walk out thinking, "Masterpiece!"

SB says:

Nice try, but I ain't buyin' it. Your allusion to needing a drink or three to dull the pain says it all. At least they can't screw up John Williams' score. (fingers crossed)

chris says:

Ya know what, who cares if its crap or not. Ive grown a bit tired of every critic out there taking a dump on popular films because they lack an "artsy" edge. What happened to just shutting down your mind for two hours to see a dang movie. In this day and age, we can use all the escapism we can get.

chris says:

I care if it's crap or not. I happen to like the original trilogy and don't want the stench of taint on it of this new one is a bust - which is appears to be with the apparent overuse of CGI.

KSK says:

That's what I love about Robert: The man DELIVERS.

And oh, I dare. I do indeed dare.

Well, if you must know ...
