Is It News When Dallas Gets Yet Another Upscale Topless Joint? Sure, Why Not.

Houston-based Rick's Cabaret must really like Dallas, 'cause this morning the chain of think tanks announced it's spending $7.5 million to buy a second joint -- this one, the current and soon-to-be-former home of Platinum Club II on Northwest Highway near Stemmons Freeway. Rick's, which spent $10 mil for The Executive Club back in March, is going to rebrand the PC2 as Club Onyx, which, says the media release, is all about "catering to African-American gentlemen" and attracting "an avid clientele of professional athletes, musicians and business executives." Turns out, the publicly traded chain even has a name for the format: the "Urban Gentlemen’s format." Or Tuesday. --Robert Wilonsky

Nathan says:

Rick should start looking into paying downtown real estate around the convention center. Perhaps the city could build a gentlemen's club that is attached to the city's hotel that will be attached to the city's convention center. I mean, Dallas needs to stay competitive in the convention business right?

It's the law of supply and demand. Pacman Jones' signing with the Cowboys created a spike in demand that needed to be met.

In light of recent conversations around here, there's probably more racial diversity in 'Baby Dolls' than anywhere else in town.

Jb says:

Dallas used to be famous for its strip bars and a sure stop for traveling professional dancers. But ever since Greenville Ave. got all Central Markety and Starbucksy, as well as Bachman/NW. Hwy getting all, well.....uh, unsafe, it seems that Vegas, Houston, and probably even Lubbock are better venues. I look forward when Dallas can call itself the Cash Cow Cattle Car on the Stripper Train Tour of the U.S again.

Jedi says:

Good Dallas needs and upscale shake joint that has classy thick black women. I don't want to see any more ghetto strippers and skinny white women.

The Truth says:

Why is it that blacks feel that it's NOT RACIST to advertise a business that "is all about catering to African-American gentlemen," but if WHITE'S opened a business and released a statement to the media that said the business "is all about catering to WHITE-American gentlemen," ALL HELL would break loose in the black community, calling it WHITE RACISM??? NO healing between the two races will EVER happen until this DOUBLE STANDARD ceases to exist. It is OFFENSIVE to WHITES.

religion of bacon says:

"Classy thick black strippers," now there's an oxymoron...
