Here Goes Nothing: Sweet Greggo!

Mon May 19, 2008 at 04:16:05 PM

I've spent all day waiting for someone to post the video from Greg Willliams' appearance last night on Mike Doocy's Sports Adventure Happy Fun Time Hour, only, no luck. (Not even on the KDFW-Channel 4 site, which is the worst in the history of network affiliates.) Too bad too, because the final segment made for especially riveting video for those remaining Hardline fans who've been asking "Where's Greggo?" since his disappearance from KTCK-AM (1310) last fall. Alas, as we've no video (thus far), we can instead rely on Uncle Barky, who did the transcribing I've been putting off all day whilst trying to finish next week's cover story for the paper version of Unfair Park. (Update: A Friend of Unfair Park sends the link for the video.)

Read Ed's wrap-up, but first, a takeaway: When Doocy asks Greggo to be more specific about the "bad things" that cost him his gig at The Ticket, the Hammer said, point blank, "Illegal drug use -- exactly what it was. And I'm embarrassed to admit that." Me, I'm still trying to decipher Greggo's very odd adios ... Still, he looked terrific. --Robert Wilonsky

Fox4 is a joke station anyway. I quit watching them around the time they hassled that old guy with a shotgun.

That being said, I hope sweet greggo lands on his feet, anythings better than Cobra and OGW on the little ticket, its like a radio abortion every afternoon.

Lakewooder says:

KDFW doesn't waste time posting interviews to their web site. They know this this internet thingamajig is a fad.

robert says:

What a complete waste of time...I thought Doocy was better than that; real hard hitting stuff there Mike.

hellohello says:

Looked terrific??? Perhaps the video is too small to tell but he was sweating and his hands were shaking the whole time. He looked really bad in my opinion. He also talked about taking Kid Kraddic's job...wtf!!

Rick says:

Thanks to Scott. I've been hoping someone would post it as well.
I've been listening to the Hardline for about 10 years now, and as much as his country bumpkin schtick drove me crazy at times, it hasn't been the same without him. I still listen though and I think Corby and Danny have stepped up and been great since his departure.
Best of luck Hammer!

chris says:

pretty boring...

Anon says:

FOX 4 had the entire interview posted this morning -- it was one of the top 5 stories on the site for hours.
A quick search of "Greg Williams" revealed it, too.

elmo says:

He needs to go back to bar tending

John on a Carphone says:

Welcome back to the real world, Greggo. One bit of advice: BURN THAT TIE.

Preston Pearson says:

The rainbow tie is a dead giveaway, I knew Greggo was gay!

Seriously though it's at least nice to hear his voice again.

former P-1 says:

I really miss the hammer. the corby & reiner show sucks and isnt the hardline

hammertimez says:

greggo! greggo! greggo! greggo!

Mike says:

The Hardline is better off without the Greggo they'd been getting for a good while. That being said, I hope Greggo lands on his feet.

Things I hate about the current Hardline (which I still love, but need to complain about):
1. Rhyner knowing and overusing about eight SAT words.
2. Rhyner's repeating the same six awkward phrases (fair burgh, that Dunham and Miller morning program, "the room" [kill me], "this thing" [kill me 2x])
3. The overuse of superlatives by Danny and Corby - sure, we've gone through some wild swings with the Stars, Mavericks and Rangers these past couple months, but you guys are ridiculous. So the Radiohead concert was the greatest ever and the Mavs are the worst ever and ... ever

JR says:

I miss Greg.

Rhinosaur says:

I think that...yeah.

Dale Hansen says:

It appeared that the whole interview was something Corby would have promoted....over sold and WAY underdelivered

theman says:

i noticed the sweat too... especially compared to doocy; i kept waiting for him to wipe his brow in between shots.

Old Gay Wolf says:

I thought he'd taken the head job at the University of Michigan. huh shows you how much I know. Meanwhile back to the little red shoe rangers...

Tom Hicks says:

Great success.

Shotgun Boyd says:

Greggo's Mutant Power: Instant Moire Effect.
Who knew?

Albatrosscs says:

I bet Greggo goes back to the TCKT. They have been talking about him more and playing a lot of his drops that they did not play right after he left. Seems like a good ratings move by them if you ask me...

Mike says:

Put Greggo on the Tee-Box.

gb says:

Mike has it right. I call it robot rhyner: Friendly Merc, too terribly much, this thing, some such, constant misuse of reconnoiter, mispronouncing folk(he even has corby doing that.)

What a pseudo intellectual phony.

The only thing worse than rhyner is the ranch report.

GrubesSpankRag says:

Greggo sounded clean and genuinely remorseful for his actions. Can Rhyner (I wish he were dead) accept him back? I'd love to hear The Hardline as I once knew them back together again.

Get off the sick.

anticorb says:

Sad when you have to rely on greggo drops to intice listeners! Yep....just sad! Having said that.... Dorky Suckinson sucks so painfully HARD!!!

ranty rantington says:

I miss greggo. The Corby Davidson show (formerly the hardline) sucks so bad I've started watching Oprah.

sweatin like a little greggo piggy. gl hammer

Scooter says:

When does Hammer's non complete clause expire? His relevancy is diving like John Denver single engine...

anticorb says:

Ole Ranty above just about sums it up!! They need to officially change name of "Hardline" to Corby Davidsuck Show"! Someone has cruelly convinced this Bo-Zo that we give a rat's crap-hole about his personal life!! Hey Qweerby...SHUT THA HELL UP!!!
