Council Votes Yup-Yup on City-Owned Convention Center Hotel

Wed May 14, 2008 at 01:44:50 PM

This just in. At this point, it's easier to tell you who voted against the city getting into the convention center hotel business rather than who voted for it: Vonciel Hill and Angela Hunt. (Mitchell Rasansky and Elba Garcia had to recuse themselves, as both own Citigroup stock, turns out.) Everyone else voted yea, yay. Tom Leppert, you, sir, are a winner. More to come shortly from Schutze and Merten, who've been at City Hall all day, lucky bastards. --Robert Wilonsky

Will this hotel utopia be any where near something like a really neat toll road, lakes, and Calatrava bridges???? Wow, having all that together will attract the tourists and make tax paying schmoes forget all about the crime, pot holes, corruption, and sky high prices.

Fine Print says:

Hey, wait a minute! Elba Garcia also owns Citigroup stock? Did the city attorney exclude her from discussing the land purchase/hotel deal along with Rasansky?
