A Sneak Preview of Oliver Stone's Bush

Thu May 08, 2008 at 01:02:01 PM

Yes, that is indeed Josh Brolin as the former co-owner of the Texas Rangers. And, yes, that is indeed Elizabeth Banks as a former Longfellow Elementary School teacher. Entertainment Weekly is graciously providing a sneak peek at this week's cover story, concerning Oliver Stone's W, about a certain former and future Dallas resident, which is currently in production in Louisiana. Best part from my quick scan of the piece: "There's a scene of 26-year-old Bush peeling his car to a stop on his parents' front lawn and drunkenly hurling insults at his father ('Thank you, Mr. Perfect. Mr. War Hero. Mr. F---ing-God-Almighty!'), while another scene set a few years later finds Bush nearly crashing a small plane while flying under the influence." To which Stone later replies, "I'm tired of defending the accuracy of my movies." Can. Not. Wait. --Robert Wilonsky

What are people going to do next January, when they have to go into cold turkey withdrawal from Bush Derangement Syndrome? It's not going to be a pretty sight.

Why embellish? The truth about our President is frightening enough.

Comic Book Guy says:

Best. Movie. Ever.

RG says:

Can't wait for the "I don't want ur life" scene...

Adam says:

Admittedly I am excited but I say too little too late. Why weren't movies like this being produced before his second run for the White House? Who cares at this point, damage has already been done. If you didn't know what you were getting in 2000 or 2004 and you voted for this yahoo then you're as daft as they come.

ChrisU says:

Josh Brolin's good, but think Burton Gilliam would have made great W.

"All I wanna do is race, Daddy."

Why would anyone be excited about a movie full of bullshit? Don't worry about reality, if it's in a movie then must be true...Right Jethro?

T says:

Won't, or *can't* defend its accuracy?

U says:

Won't.

Like someone already said, the truth is bad enough...why embellish?

Too bad he never had an open car spin through Dealy.

His Dad set the moron precedent by having Quayle as his VP.

Catbird says:

The main thing that President Bush did over the last 8 years is take on the job that other American presidents refused to do by cleaning out the fetted culture that produced al Queda.

A recent indicator of his sucess is that the leader of al Queda in Iraq was captured today and it didn't even make headlines.

Score a big one for W.

Other important victories of the Bush Presidency have been the correction of a far left Supreme Court and cutting the capital gains tax to grow the economy.

The failures of the Bush administration have all been because he went along with left wing Democrats and RINO Republicans on social engineering, pork barrel spending, education, healthcare and illegal immigration.

Everyone knows what president Bush has done because we've lived through it.

Other than the money, what's the point of the movie?

CV Gilkeson says:

So this is what Stone is reduced to? Fictional dramedy so Bush-haters can pop one more orgasm in a collective circle jerk? I don't think a whole lot about Bush but for
f-sake get a life and move on to something more productive than patting yourselves on the back because you've perfected your disgust.

Please. W didn't do anything. The Iraqi police caught the guy. And by your premise, when is Bush going to take "credit" for the death of Pat Tillman?

*Catbird: Other important victories of the Bush Presidency have been the correction of a far left Supreme Court and cutting the capital gains tax to grow the economy.

Did you really just say "grow" the economy? What planet do you live on?

Shameless Bush apologists, practice saying these words: President Barack Obama... President Barack Obama... President Barack Obama... President Barack Obama...

Damn, that sounds good! You'll get the hang of it.

Catbird says:

M. Liles:

You mean Barack Hussein Obama?

Nope. Sorry. Been there, done that in the 70's.

America can't afford to allow BHO to serve the second term of the Carter administration.

McCain/Jindal 2008!

Danny says:

Wow, Catbird. Such an imaginative tactic to throw in Obama's middle name to remind all your "good American" friends that he's "not one of us" (the cheap-shot way of implying he's "one of them"). I don't know who this Jindal person you refer to is, but that name doesn't sound very Murrican to me. Hell, it's only a couple letters away from "jihad." I don't think I want to affix any yellow-ribbon stickers to my truck on that person's behalf...

Hate to break it to you, but McCain is just the newest version of Bob Dole. War hero? Sure. Likeable? Not particularly. Electable? Not a chance.

Your childishness aside, this...

"The main thing that President Bush did over the last 8 years is take on the job that other American presidents refused to do by cleaning out the fetted culture that produced al Queda. ...is embarrassing. I'd rephrase it thusly:

The main thing that the Bush White House (meaning Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rice, Rumsfeld, et al - Dubya's just the schmuck who reads the lines they feed him) did over the last eight years is start a worldwide war for the benefit of the oil industry, war profiteers like Halliburton, Blackwater and their ilk, and the free-trade multinational corporations.

They managed to set up an ingeniously inhumane system that allows them to ignore any international laws and the most basic human moralities whenever they see fit. They realized that the U.S. has enough military might - and control over "international" organizations like the World Bank and the United Nations - to wipe out the entire planet many times over if they see fit, and therefore nobody can fuck with us. Which, of course, is absolutely true.

Now all they have to do is cry "al Queda!" or "war on terror!" whenever and wherever they choose and start bombing. After all, who can stop them? And isn't it fascinating that this always occurs only in areas with copious amounts of fossil fuels within easy reach? Or maybe that's just coincidence.

Your ignorance of the world outside of whatever Fox News feeds you is sad and, again, embarrassing. Just a suggestion: you might consider world events from time to time from the perspective of a non-American. Seek out other viewpoints with an open mind. Investigate other media (not just in the U.S. but from around the world) to perhaps enlighten yourself a bit. Not that I'm suggesting I'm enlightened...I just happen to recognize propaganda when I see it. And Dubya's administration has taken propaganda to spectacular new heights (or lows).

Oh, and for the record, I'm not a particular fan of Barack Hussein Obama or any of the major candidates. Just calling you out on your bullshit.

Have a nice day!

Liles says:

Catbird, I guess you heard that your big aQ leader that that "W" apprehended yesterday wasn't, uh... who they thought he was after all. Again. Thanks, Fixed News, for yet another attempt at painting roses over the truth.

Now that we're reeling off W's vast list of achievements, where the fuck is Osama bin Laden seven years after 9/11? Wanna hang a "Mission Accommplished" banner on that one too?

And since you're so big on the word "Hussien", whadda ya say we dig up that great old photo of war criminal Donald Rumsfeld shaking paws with Bush I's old business partner Saddam Hussien?

You really wanna go there?

It must hurt to be a Republican these days. Just keep saying these words: "Sanity is on the way. Please welcome the new President of the United States of America, Barack Hussien Obama."
