Forbes Says Dallasites Waste 58 Hours a Year in Traffic. So, Please, Stay Home.

• And me, I'm happily "inside the loop", so I really could not care less if people spend a zillion hours a year commuting to and fro their homes in exurbia. You poor idiots get what you deserve. I don't understand why anyone would want to live that far away from civilization and still not be "in the country.". A wise man once said to me: You can live in the city or you can live in the country, but you can't live in between.

• Actually us in Collin County wonder why anybody would intentionally go to Dallas County!

• To be fair, it seems to me that the criticism should fall on the legislature (Republicans?) for allocation of the proceeds of the gas tax to General Operations. It is crazy to build more roads when we cannot maintain the ones we have. It is also crazy to rob the future to get upfront money to build toll roads. To give Texans the roads we need, it may well be necessary to raise the gasoline tax.

• They spend money designated for road building & repair on building parks. They spend money designated for road building on a PR campaign for the Trans Texas Tollway (El Camino Royalty). And they spend money on a PR campaign to say there is not a Trans Texas Tollway. Too bad they do not spend money on roads.

• Our sprawl is due to fact that North Texas has no geographical features to limit growth. We have no coastline, mountain range, major rivers, or large bodies of water to limit growth in one direction or another. Since it costs less to build homes a few more miles away, people opt to commute further and further.

• WTF? Dallas has very little zoning regulation??? Since when? Oh they meant, the region. As in, the DFW *region* has very little zoning regulation, and has thusly created sprawl as a result.

• Shhh..don't tell Michael Morris. He's still under the delusion that gas prices won't increase and that people will continue to accept the "add-another-lane" mantra of development.

• I view the word as a mash-up, between "homeboy" and "Sherlock Holmes." Because the writer is clearly my homeboy, much like Dirk and Jesus, but he's also done fine sleuthing in this particular instance. So I find if I lower-case the "Holmes" whilst still using it as a term of endearment ("homeboy") that it makes for a lovely "holmes," without the formally capitalized "H" attributed to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's creation.

• I love it when that annual report comes out. You know why? Job security. "I'm Todd Carruth, Good Day Team Traffic." /I do feel your pain, though.

• Hey, Robert, as a master wordsmith help me out with something. I always thought it was "Thanks, homes" as in "thanks homeboy". But this is not the first time I've seen "holmes" like in Sherlock Holmes too. Which is right and how come? Should I make Sherlock my holmesboy or not? Chet

• Compounding the long commute is the fact that gas is at $3.45/gallon, and TxDOT once again claiming poverty yesterday and announcing that it ain't repairing no stinking roads for a while.
