City to Consider "Goodbye, Kitty" Ordinance

Categories: News

Shortly after noon at City Hall, the Dallas city council's Quality of Life and Government Services Committee will discuss Proposed Ordinances for Animal Control. Among the suggestions to be considered: new guidelines for dealing with "dangerous dogs" and mandatory spaying and neutering for all dogs and cats within the city limits, unless the owner has a breeder permit. But the most contentious issue will likely be the proposal that calls for limiting pet ownership to six dogs and cats. Only, there's an exception to the rule: "puppies and kittens under four months of age." Why? 'Cause, like, they're so cute. But, seriously, where's the rule prohibiting the dressing up of dogs and cats like humans? --Robert Wilonsky
